The Clerk

How can I stop it?

Every knight had a question

The clerk said it was better to have one

That the quest for its answer

Would give you the strength to push on

The lot of us followed him blindly

And never doubted his words save for those with prior arrangements

This wasn’t due to their loyalty or because he earned our trust

It was simply envy for he seemed to be living in tranquility

Even though he was bearing a larger curse of knowledge than we simple folk

Just the sight of him, calmed our nerves

Until the prized student he seemed to have been waiting for

Came to remind us

That a curse was a curse after all.
